Olivia Bellefontaine and Kathryn Blaikie are Halifax moms, each having welcomed their first child in 2023. Lighthouse Postpartum was an idea born out of many text exchanges along the lines of “I could not do this alone.”

During the first few months of motherhood, Olivia and Kat realised that postpartum was a tricky time of troubleshooting and self-discovery. While navigating the challenges and costs of a new baby, it became clear that access to disposable income and support was a privilege, and this privilege is not afforded to all Halifax families.

Their goal is to raise awareness surrounding the postpartum experience and increase access to whatever support may be needed. Kat and Olivia hope that Lighthouse Postpartum can help Nova Scotian families adjust to their new life, focus on the joy, and relax into this wonderful transition without the added burden of cost.

A special shout-out to Shandelle Ferguson, from Blossom and Birth Doula Services. Shandelle has guided both Kat and Olivia through pregnancy and postpartum and has become a wonderful friend and mentor along the way.
