Give the gift of Nutrition.
For any new family, finding the time to plan, purchase, and prepare meals after the arrival of a baby can be nearly impossible. Not only is this a busy and tiring time, but a new baby also brings a number of additional costs to consider which can directly impact food budgets for a new family. However, balanced meals for recovering and/or breastfeeding parents are crucial during the postpartum period.
With this gift, a new family will be able to choose from a HelloFresh subscription gift card, a Skip The Dishes gift card or a Sobeys gift card to receive nurturing food without the added financial burden. New families can apply to receive multiple gift cards depending on need and donation availability.
Give the gift of Necessity.
Diapers, and baby formula are both repeating expenses that appear when parenthood begins and are necessary often on a weekly basis. High prices can cause families to choose between feeding and diapering their baby or feeding and caring for themselves. This is not a choice that any person should have to face.
With this gift, new parents can take a pause from the financial and physical burden of repeating costs. They will receive a Sobeys gift card for the purchase of any or all formula, baby food products, diapers and diapering products. New families can apply to receive multiple gift cards depending on need and donation availability.

Subsidize a Postpartum Doula.
Postpartum doulas provide professional in-home support during those fragile first weeks of new parenthood. Support from a postpartum doula varies depending on the needs of the family and can include debriefing birth, helping parents prioritize rest, meal prepping, breastfeeding support, completing household chores, as well as providing local references, information and emotional support. It is common for friends and family members to offer support after birth. However, not all new parents have a trusted familial support system to ask for help. Moreover, not all family and friends have up to date information, and expert training on newborns, recovery and birth. A post-partum Doula can provide support and information allowing new parents to focus on the changes occurring in their home, relationships and bodies.
Give the gift of professional, reliable postpartum assistance. New families will be put in contact with a local provider to choose a plan that suits their needs.
The cost of the postpartum Doula will be subsidized ranging from 25% - 100% based on the reported needs to the family and availability of donations.

Subsidize a Lactation Consultation.
Breastfeeding is recommended by WHO as the ideal food for babies 0-6 months (WHO, 2023). The benefits however, do not stop at a baby's health. Breastfeeding is free! It is the perfect temperature and always sterile. This eliminates the potential costs of formula, bottles, a bottle steriliser, and a bottle warmer, not to mention the labour of cleaning and preparing these items.
Establishing breastfeeding is different for every mother and can be a painful and confusing process. There are a number environmental and socio-economic factors that could prevent a parent from successfully breastfeeding a baby. Successful breastfeeding can potentially save hundreds of dollars in the long term but not all families have the disposable income to spend on lactation specialists.
Give the gift of guidance from a professional lactation consultant. Lactation professionals will help new breastfeeding parents navigate their unique obstacles, their changing bodies and new babies in order to incorporate breastfeeding into their lives.
The cost of a lactation specialist consultation will be subsidised ranging from 25% - 100% based on the reported needs to the family and availability of donations.

Give the gift of Relief.
During a time when rest and recovery is critical, chores like laundry and cleaning can easily fall through the cracks. It can be overwhelming to navigate new parenthood in a home that is untidy, or piling up with tasks. It is important not to underestimate the power of striking laundry off the to-do list and relieving a new family of the mental -load of at least one repeating chore. The joy of new parenthood is easier to relish in a clean and organized home
Gift the gift of relief! This donation will allow a new family to choose from a pickup and drop off laundry service, a professional cleaner, or both.
Recipients of this donation have the cost of these services covered or subsidised based on reported needs from the family and the availability of donations.
